Helping Multilingual Learners Show What They Know Through Writing

Educators will leave with ready-to-use strategies, templates, and instructional routines that help multilingual learners confidently communicate their thinking through writing.

In this session, educators will learn how to:

  • Use sentence frames and language supports to strengthen student writing

  • Design writing tasks that support both language development and content learning

  • Support MLs in explaining reasoning through writing

  • Maintain rigorous expectations while providing appropriate scaffolds
